We ‘consciously uncoupled’ from our known world last year. It is utterly shocking how much the old world fights your desire to divorce it. I’m planning a story on this soon but just wanted to say, thank you for sharing this. It reminds us why we chose this and is also so supportive…especially now, when everything seems so hard! I needed this story!!!

Jordan has crossed the bridge. He has made the choice to make a change in his life story. The risk of choosing the opposite and remaining in a loop that delivers zero satisfaction is now in the past. Often when our personal story becomes routine the familiar is the safe choice. I understand the importance of looking ahead. Life definitely is all about change. We cannot control everything that happens. But when we commit to something else, the door opens. My 20’s and 30’s were not planned out. Asking for help and support worked part of the time but I needed to sit by myself and work on what was a better fit. The exciting part of the Jordans’ story today is that he is creating a life where he fits!

All the best to Jordan!🏡

Home is where you hang your hat!🧢

I am so in the middle of this awakening. As are many. The current ways no longer work. "You’re not alone in this. You’re just waking up. That quiet hunger for less? That yearning for a life of simplicity, meaning, and self-expression—it’s not a crisis. It’s your compass."

Hey Dimitri, thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts. It's my hope that by so many people sharing their stories we feel inspired and start trusting ourselves to make our own choices and live a life that is truly meant for us.

I completely resonate with this. Spent a year living out of my backpack around the world and since coming back, I've realized how overwhelmed I am by everything I own and the things I "should" do. My year "break" was meant to just be that, but I feel like now that I've had a touch of that lifestyle and meeting so many others who have made a fulfilling unconventional life for themselves, I feel like Im not made for this 9-5 suburban routine.

Thanks for sharing, Vanessa. I guess figuring out you don't want to live the type of life everyone else is striving for is just part of the process, maybe we have to go through it. It's an inspiration just to even see other folks questioning that

Yes!! This life is a great work in progress. All we need to do is try to figure out which path is truly our own. You are not "stuck," so much as turning away from a dead end and moving toward the RIGHT road for you! 🥰🥰🥰

Bravo! You don’t have to settle or compromise, indeed. You can be free to do what is in you to do, and it is refreshing to hear a soul taking that big leap of faith. You can do it. Keep chasing!

I actually love my work and my small home and my community, yet I dream of casting off sometimes. I am growing older (58), a single woman, and I don’t dare travel too far from my nest, bc my kids are near and I have built a good life here... But I love nature, and I love being far from the madding crowd, roaming, untethered to a place. It’s so gratifying reading about (and with) people who are flexing their dreams a bit, venturing away from their established constructs, as uncomfortable as they seem. I wonder sometimes if there’s a half-and-half lifestyle for me — half roaming; half staying put. I don’t feel constricted, yet an adventure in the wide open country seems about right.

Hey Jen, thanks for reading and responding. So often in like we think we really want something only to give it a shot and still something doesn't feel quite right. I sometimes am torn in this way because I absolutely love living in a city, I love seeing people on the sidewalks and running into the same baristas at my favorite coffee shops... but I also don't want to participate in society the way that society requires me to. I also love nature, and whenever I hike or camp I only worry about what I need to survive. I have less and genuinely feel free. There's a good balance somewhere, maybe. I hope you go out on a hobbit style adventure, soon :]

This one felt so personal, especially the part about not feeling fulfilled in any job. I really resonate with Jordan, and I truly believe that when you start taking those small steps toward your passion, magic begins to happen, despite all the difficulties. Thank you both!

Hey, thanks for taking the time to read and respond. I always appreciate when other people share the same sentiment, it helps me to feel not alone and it also inspires me. I know it'll be a journey and a long the way I'll take a few steps back and probably feel like I haven't made any progress ... But support from others and keep things in perspective is so important. Thanks for responding

Thank you, Jordan! Taking a few steps back isn’t a failure. Just like in sports, sometimes we step back to build momentum and jump forward with all our strength! Take care!

Hang in there, Jordan! I agree with Scott's advice: take the tiny steps, carve out pieces of the life you want. Find a moment and a place, even if it is only a chair or a quiet corner, that no one can take from you. I'm like you—I know what I want but the weariness of where I am, the feeling trapped, is overwhelming at times. We have to build our North Star, so we can find our way to the place that is home.

“You don’t need to bulldoze your life overnight. Just pick one small thing that moves you closer to that dream.” Great advice from Scott! It’s a process, and each step can inform the next. Jordan’s dissatisfaction is the impetus for change, but it doesn’t have to be all or nothing, and each change he makes may reveal next steps to him. Good luck, Jordan. Trust yourself.

If you’re looking for a book reco - Scott wrote a book called I Don’t Want To Grow Up. All about prioritizing lifestyle then finding work to fund that life, following ur passions. We all need money to live but you don’t have to be miserable earning it. Live simply, require less money, take the pressure off, increase free time. Time is our most precious currency-spend it wisely. ✨💖✨

The book offers a framework for figuring out what isn’t working in your life, how to dream big about possibilities and how to take action to make change. Based on the book and an excellent coaching program, I took a one month sabbatical, found several new hobbies I now practice regularly and worked through burn out. I hope it gives you some pearls as well!
