If there’s one thread woven through all my books, it’s Infinite Intelligence—the quiet current moving through everything. Some call it God. Others call it Source, Spirit, or the Universe. The names don’t matter. They’re only signposts pointing toward the same truth. What matters is that we find our own way of connecting with it. Here’s an excerpt from my new book on that very theme.
The Quiet Source
Infinite Intelligence is like a vast underground spring—silent, invisible, inexhaustible—eternally flowing beneath the surface of our busy lives. Most people never tap into it, because they’re too distracted by the noise above ground, rushing from one thing to the next, reacting to every ping and notification. But for those of us who learn to slow down, to listen and dig a little deeper—we discover the spring is there, waiting. You just need to sit beside it. Wait. Breathe. Let the water rise up to meet you. Let ideas bubble forth. Insights surface, sometimes gently, sometimes all at once—like summer tides or flash floods of inspiration.
The key is to get out of your own way, to let it flow. For many, writing is the easiest way to connect with Infinite Intelligence. This form of expression isn’t about creating a literary masterpiece, but rather channeling and freeing any energy that builds up inside you. It might feel awkward at first, like you’re writing nonsense and have nothing to say. Start with something simple— such as “I have nothing to write about …”—and see where that takes you. One of my favorite techniques starts with me writing something like this:
I have nothing at all to write about. This is so stupid. This is such a waste of time. If I had anything at all to say, it would come out here, yet still I have nothing. Just this boring jibber-jabber going on and on about nothing important. I feel like such a failure. The other day I couldn’t even …
And so, it begins. Before I know it, I’ve written a page, then another and another. The beauty of this process is that it doesn’t matter what you write. You don’t have to worry about grammar or punctuation. The practice is the act of writing itself. Do this long enough, and you’ll be amazed at what starts flowing out of you. Nothing you could have ever predicted. Memories from the past. Long-lost feelings, neglected emotions. Things you’ve always wanted to say but never had the chance. Grand visions. Ideas! Ideas! Ideas!
Don’t rush it.
Don’t expect anything to come.
Don’t be afraid. Just write.
Writing, of course, isn’t the only gateway to Infinite Intelligence. Maybe you prefer drawing, painting, playing music, dancing, or even more traditional sitting in silence—it doesn’t really matter, so long as it’s something that allows you to step away from your thinking mind and plug into a present state of flowing, moving energy. The main thing to remember is that this is your time, and there are no rules.
Sometimes, when you tap into Infinite Intelligence, it feels like you’ve just connected to a hidden power source—like you’ve suddenly immersed yourself in the very current of the universe. One moment, your mind is still, your body unmoving. Then the next, almost without warning, a surge of energy flows through you. Stay present, open, receptive long enough and you’ll start to notice that the ideas aren’t coming from you, but through you. No longer are you the creator, but the channel, the vessel, the transcriber, the one who brings these ideas to life. That’s when you’ll realize you’re playing a role in something much larger than yourself—an integral expression of the incredible intelligence shaping the universe. This is the gateway to your highest potential, the key to uncovering your creative genius.
Every book I write is an invitation to pause, to listen, to reconnect with the quiet source within. If you’d like to journey deeper, all of my books are available here: scottstillmanblog.com.
You can't diminish the system
Unless you break free of the system
Voluntary simplicity
is the breaking free
Live below your means and comfort
"Resist much
Obey little"
Spend less
Rough up the comfort
Say no to the "man"
Live on the margins
Move through with strength
There is freedom in living this way
We all have a tendency to narrate
Rather than experience existing
Loved this short piece. Puts into words my life. I bought your book and followed you on Amazon. You have an amazing life. Can't wait to read it.
