I love that your wife and you can do this. I love that you're creative enough to work to make this happen. I have the creative mindset, but I need the other side of the coin to help make it happen. I think this is beautiful and I admire you for sharing it because it lends me some hope in the season I am in right now.
It’s going to be a thrilling journey for you both, and for us, your readers!
I’ve been living on my 5.25-acre farm for 31-years now. There aren’t any neighbors for acres on any side of our farm, so it is so quiet and natural all the time. I began my journey here on my farm to test out how little a person could live on in retirement, and yet still live well, if they focused on that being the end result. It’s been great! It is great! We’ve been retired for nearly a decade now. And we have freedom too! We can take vacations and still always have our home-base, our homestead to return to.
I completely understand this feeling. I just got back to my home base after traveling for 5 months and I'm already craving again the thrill and inspiration that only comes from seeing and experiencing new places. Agreed that you don't need to be "wealthy" to do this – I wrote recently about how it does help to be rich though... (rich in time, privilege, and love).
This sounds so fantastic, and you are really living « The ultimate Dream» Choosing this Life is The Freedom we all should choose. It doesn’t matter where you go, some are more creative than others 😃 I am very often choosing The same places… but hell Yeah you are truly inspiring , it give a spark to try some new places 🌿💚 Have a fantastic time with your wife, looking forward to follow you🌸
You are living my dream life Scott! Where in Indonesia are you planning to visit (I bet Bali is on the list :D). If you and your wife are stopping by Jakarta and are interested in coffee shop hopping, give me a ring!
Ha, nice! Thank you for the kind invitation. No current plans to be in Jakarta. We plan to fly into Denspar on Bali and will bookend our trip there for a couple nights on each end of the trip (Sanur and...?). The rest of the trip will be spent on islands most people have never heard the name of. We start in Lombok - have 8 nights of accommodations planned there. After that, I have a list of well researched places of possibilities but want to get a lay of the land, meet locals and get input and recos before deciding what's next. Please feel free to private message me with any advice, tips, etc. ☺️
Have an incredible time. We have really loved our connection to water that living on a boat has provided and I hope your time in Indonesia gives you that connection, too. Love that you're able to make this jump! PS - I submitted my reader story a while back. I hope it gets picked up one day. :)
Thank you for your well wishes and your story submission. I have received quite a few reader stories and am slowly working my way through them. Stay tuned. 😉
I would have gone to Thailand instead of Indonesia. You’ll see. Beauty, yes. Culture, no. Thailand is also beautiful. Not island rich such as Indonesia, but is known as the land of happy people. That ticks my box.
Can't wait for you to go to Thailand! 😀 That's on our list for another time. One of the big draws for me in Indonesia is the unparalleled wing foiling (a wind and wing, board, surf sport) available at the islands. It is what feeds my soul right now and there are few places on the planet that rival the perfection of water, wind, scenery, affordability, etc as Indonesia. ☺️
There you go. I surfed once in my life. At the birthplace of surfing. Waikiki, Hawaii. I can see how if you love it that you would chase the waves. I wasn’t thrilled.

Thank you for saying so. The energetic support feels good. Let's inspire each other! 💖

Sounds like you're doing something right! Well done.
…and a life I too long for. First thing, how to gain a (remote) income to make it happen. Looking forward to seeing your journey unfold 😊
Thank you! I look forward to the unfolding and sharing of it too. 💖
Love this! I am feeling a similar itch, and am planning a camper van trip across America.
How exciting. We live in an incredibly beautiful country with soooo much to see. Happy wanderings. 😊

"Rich in time!" Yes. Time is our most precious currency - spend it wisely. 💖
Interesting thought...mmmmm
